2000년, 세상을 사로잡은 어린이 교육 프로그램 <뭉치와 친구들>의 주인공, ‘뭉치’. 뭉치를 연기한 배우는 알 수 없는 이유로 자신의 슈트를 벗지 않는다. 뭉치의 정체를 둘러싼 여러 루머들이 떠돌고, 마침내, 그가 슈트를 벗는다.

<체화>, <몬스트로 옵스큐라> 등 하나의 언어로 호명될 수 없는 존재에게 목소리를 부여하는 작업들로 주목 받아 온 홍승기 감독이 브라운관 TV와 텔레토비에 대한 기억과 애정으로 그려낸 또 다른 존재의 이야기.

In 2000, “Mungchi” became a global sensation as the star of the hit children’s program Mungchi and Friends. However, for reasons unknown, the actor behind the character has long refused to remove the mascot suit. As rumors swirl regarding their true identity, Mungchi finally takes off the suit.

Director HONG Seung-gi—celebrated at Fantasia and Sitges for giving voice to the indefinable in works like Chaehwa and Monstro Obscura—returns with a new vision. This film brings to life yet another presence, channeling a nostalgic affection for the era of CRT televisions and Teletubbies.
