Thirteen-year-old Yerin, spending the last summer of her childhood, finds herself longing to be scolded. She envies Gunju, the girl next door who is the same age as her, for one reason alone: the constant scolding Gunju receives is a clear manifestation of her family’s attention. Desperate to confirm their families’ affection, the two girls embark on a bold adventure.

This is the latest work from director LEE Ji-won, who has explored the theme of coming-of-age through a lens of fairytale imagination. The film was produced with the support of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) and the Incheon Film Commission.

This marks the directorial debut of rising star Lee Jaein, who has been garnering attention through films such as Svaha: The Sixth Finger and HI-FIVE, as well as numerous TV series. After a long period of personal preparation, she both directed the film and played the lead character, drawing on aspects of herself in shaping the role.

감독 본인이 자신의 가족에 대해 만들던 미완성 다큐멘터리를 토대로, 극영화의 형식을 가져와 완성한 작품.

Young-jin, a college student, visits her aunt after eleven years of estrangement to film a documentary about her deceased mother. Her aunt, however, refuses to say anything. When the project comes to a standstill due to a lack of interview subjects, Young-jin turns to the person closest to her.

Based on an unfinished documentary the director had been making about her own family, this film adopts a fictional form to bring that personal project to completion.
